For Attorneys:
When High Performance Turns Into Burnout
Why High Performers Burn Out — And What Actually Fixes It
The billable hour rewards exactly the patterns that quietly wear you down: hypervigilance, perfectionism, decision fatigue, and an inability to switch off. Understanding those patterns — not more willpower — is what changes the trajectory.
Meet the Founder
Dr. Stevie Peña, PhD, LMHC PhD in Business Psychology · Licensed Mental Health Counselor · Clinical techniques applied to high-performing professionals
I work with attorneys, executives, and entrepreneurs who are excellent at their jobs and still running on empty. My approach combines clinical psychology with the practical realities of high-stakes, high-billable-hour work — so the strategies actually hold up under deadline pressure, not just in a wellness seminar.
Attorneys don't burn out because they're weak or disorganized.
They burn out because the same traits that make them excellent — vigilance, precision, responsibility for outcomes, tolerance for high stress — become liabilities without the right tools to regulate them.
Left unaddressed, this shows up as:
Difficulty disconnecting from work, even during time off
Decision fatigue and shrinking bandwidth for non-urgent (but important) matters
Irritability or detachment with colleagues, staff, or family
A creeping sense that the work is unsustainable — even when performance looks fine from the outside
None of this requires a diagnosis to address. It requires the right framework.
What I Offer
Continuing Education & Group Presentations In-person and virtual sessions for firms, bar associations, and professional groups on burnout, cognitive load, and sustainable high performance. (Note to Dr. Stevie: confirm CLE-accreditation status with your state bar before advertising as "CLE credit eligible" — this usually requires a formal application/approval process per state, so don't claim it until it's actually approved.)
Individual Consultation For attorneys who want focused, confidential work on burnout prevention and sustainable performance — outside of a traditional therapy framing, if that's a better fit.
Working With Your Brain (Self-Paced) A free six-part introduction to the cognitive and emotional patterns behind burnout, for attorneys who want to start before booking a call.
